Experiences wit Ati Radeon 9200SE and Linux
Sep03: replace CRT by a TFT Belinea monitor (17" 1280x1024) with
analog and digital (DVI-D) input, use with analog grafic card
without problems
Nov03: replace old PC by a new PC with Ati Radeon 9200SE grafic
card (chipset is R250SE), output is analog, TV and digital (DVI-I),
no linux driver on CD but other Radeon linux driver seems to work
Nov03: installing linux (testing SuSE-8.2, RedHat-7.3 and
Knoppix-3.3), booting with digital cable puts grafic card
to the 1024x768 digital mode (thats not what I expected),
starting X switches to the analog mode (1280x1024 or less) and
only after booting it switches back to digital mode, surprisingly
booting with another (non Belinea) monitor was succesfull
(1240x1024 digital, /var/log/XFree86.log-a)
Dec03: download linux-driver from www.ati.com, tried it without
success in single screen or clone mode (see
/var/log/XFree86.log),
starting X I get always the analog mode (digital output off),
trying (startx -- :1 with "IgnoreEDID=on") no success but freezed
if pressing Ctrl+Alt+F7,
Whats wrong ATi?
