Key Theme
Today, we are surrounded by socio-technical, embedded systems which have huge infl uence on our daily life starting from energy distribution, through transportation systems to communication and logistics. Continuous integration and automation leads to always rising complexity and criticality. Although the importance of system safety is widely recognized, an increasing number of severe accidents shows that new and better methods for designing and assessing safety are needed. One main reason is inadequate understanding of the system and its safety arguments. The leading theme of the 31st SafeComp conference will be:
VIRTUALLY SAFE – making system safety traceable!
In 2012, we specifi cally address research and experience, which aims at making dependability assessments both more precise and better to understand. Some examples might be model based approaches, simulation and virtual reality, understandable presentation of safety cases and/or methods for ensuring quality of the used safety arguments. A special focus will be given to multi-disciplinary approaches addressing several dependability issues and their interdependencies at the same time.
Scope of the Conference
Dependability related topics include but are not limited to:
- safety/security risk assessment
- model-based design and analysis
- risk reduction and mitigation techniques
- self-healing and resilience
- formal methods, verifi cation and validation
- in-the-loop and model-based testing
- methods for qualifi cation and certifi cation
- dependability analysis using simulation and virtual reality
- human factors in dependability analysis
- cyber-physical threats and vulnerability analysis
- safety guidelines, standards and certifi cation
- safety and security interactions
- traceability & saftey cases
Domains of application include but are not limited to:
- networking and telecommunication
- railway systems, automotive, aerospace and avionics
- logistics, production automation and robotics
- medical devices and e-health
- critical infrastructures and power systems
- off-shore technology
- education & training
The tradition of SAFECOMP is to act as platform for bringing academic research and industrial needs together. Therefore, industrial contributions and real-world experience reports are explictly invited. All papers will be reviewed by at least three program committee members. Papers must not have been previously published or concurrently submitted elsewhere.
Submission
Please submit your paper with the help of the EasyChair conference system. You can find it here.
